Our Animals

Ferme 5 Étoiles is a unique type of farm. Since the year 2000, the enterprise has had a special permit for the observation of wildlife, which also bestows the role of a refuge for wounded or abandoned wildlife found in nature. It is, therefore, possible to observe a diversity of representative animals of Canadian wildlife in our natural parks. Every morning, at 8:30 AM, it's possible to take part in the care of animals with the company of our passionate guide.

Rouky le renard

Rouky  is a silver fox that grew up with a family on the outskirts of Québec and who arrived  im 2012. He learned how to live with humans and dogs, and to sit on command, etc. He is full of energy, loves to climb everywhere in his pen and run after anything that moves!

Rico et Rosie les ratons-laveursRico and Rosie are raccoons that arrived in 2011 and 2012. Rico lost his family in a car accident and Rosie lost her mother because of an angry farmer who was intolerant to the ruckus she caused on his farm. Happily they found a happy family at Ferme 5 Étoiles.

Azur, l'orignal mâleAzur is the oldest moose in the refuge. He arrived in 2011 at the age of only 10 days. After having lost his mother in nature, he was very happy to find an adoptive family at Ferme 5 Étoiles.

Zoé, l'orignal femelle Zoé is small female moose found as an orphan in the spring of 2012. She was bottle-fed as soon as she arrived. Zoé is very gentle and loves people, and especially giving kisses to the visitors.

Jacob, le loup grisJacob is a grey wolf who arrived in 2010. Visitors live some very strong emotions with him when they participate in the activity «encounter with the wolves», an activity in which people are invited to enter his pen to caress this magnificent wolf and play with him.

Mel, Bella & Oscar are our white-tail deer. Mel has arrived in 2013 and Bella in 2015, their mums having been struck by a car. Meanwhile, Oscar was born in our site in 2016. As his mother rejected it, he was pampered by the staff of the Ferme 5 Étoiles.

Jacob, le loup grisEden & Illian have been found on the riverbank of the Saguenay river unable to fly. These snow gooses have been transferred to the Ferme 5 Étoiles in July 2016. Because of fractures poorly repaired, they won’t be able to fly anymore so they could live a better life in our refuge.

On the Ferme 5 Étoiles, there is always a faithful friend that will keep you company! Apart from the dogs that greet you upon your arrival, there are baby goats and baby sheep that roam freely on site, little rabbits that love being caressed, a cat that wants to be with you while you visit the farm. Every morning of the year, it is possible for you to feed all the farm animals while being accompanied by a guide.

During your visit, you will have the opportunity to observe and approach the sheep, goats, rabbits, geese, chicken, ducks, dogs and other less common species such as blue peacocks, Bartavelle partridge, silver pheasants and emus. We also have herds of semi-wild buffalo and red deer that live in very large natural habitats. These species are a part of the agricultural breeding created by Ferme 5 Etoiles, and it is possible to taste these types of high quality meat that you will be served at our country B&B table. The main agricultural breeding of the farm are the red deer and the buffalo, but we must not forget the maple syrup, eggs ans oats.
